About
The day is Monday, October 9, 2006 ... // ayan ray ... inside the simplicity complex ...
My name is Ayan Ray and I am a 3rd year Carleton University Undergraduate student, currently residing in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I am studying Interactive Multimedia and Design, for completion of a Bachelor's of Information Technology, which is also part of the school of Engineering. I was previously in Biopharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Ottawa, but left it to pursue something I actually enjoy.Â
First and foremost, I am of Indian descent. My parents are from Kolkatta, India, and they both speak Hindi and Bengali (part of the culture there). We are hindus and celebrate and practise the religion at home and in the community. I was born and spent the crucial years of my life in Boston where I moved to Ottawa for kindergarden. My dad lived in Boise, Idaho for work while my mom, my sister, and I stayed here in Ottawa.
In concerns of design and media, I have always been interested in technology. I loved getting new gadgets and engineering my own. I spent much of my childhood playing computer games and learning 'how-to' use a computer. I was the only one in my family proficient with technology and thus it was necessary if I was to help my mom and sister. Later on, I began playing games and as silly as this sounds, I lead a gaming 'organization' of like 150 people. I made the web-sites and ran the 'organization' and thus I was very passionate about creating sites that were up to date with technology. The rest was history as more and more opportunities arose to create websites and multimedia on the web. Recently, I have been interested in the integration of the web with real world solutions (more than just finding information).
Anyway, I progressed through my design stages and went through a lot of garbage before I truly began to understand design. I still have a lot to learn and have lots of time to learn it. I also want to get into 3D animation and photography but honestly I have no idea where to begin... what a journey.
